About me
You may be looking for therapy because you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties or the impact of a significant life event. Equally, you may not be in crisis at all, but feel a desire to understand yourself more deeply, make sense of your experiences, explore patterns that no longer serve you, or move towards a more fulfilling life.
Whatever has brought you here, my aim is to offer a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental space where you feel able to speak openly. Therapy is an opportunity for us to become curious about your experiences together, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships and the challenges you may be facing.
I work relationally, meaning I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is central to meaningful change. Feeling safe, heard and understood is an important part of therapy, which is why finding a therapist who feels like the right fit matters.
As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw on person-centred, psychodynamic, existential, cognitive behavioural (CBT) and solution-focused approaches. Rather than applying one approach to everyone, I tailor therapy to your individual needs, experiences and goals.
I am trauma-informed and have experience supporting people with difficulties including trauma, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief and life transitions. I recognise that people may carry shame, self-criticism or experiences they have never previously felt able to talk about. Whatever your story, you will be met with compassion, curiosity and respect.
I offer therapy face to face, online and by telephone. If you think we may be a good fit, I would be pleased to hear from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP-registered Level 7 counsellor and psychotherapist, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales.
I have long been interested in the meaning people make of their lives and what it means to live a fulfilling life. This led to me completing my undergraduate degree in Theology (BD Hons, 2:1) at the University of Wales, Bangor, which deepened my understanding and appreciation of the differing beliefs and values we hold.
Before becoming a therapist I also spent many years working alongside people experiencing trauma, abuse and significant life crises and have worked as a Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) practitioner, supporting frontline professionals following traumatic incidents. These experiences deepened my understanding of the impact trauma can have on our sense of safety, wellbeing, identity and relationships.
I gained my clinical experience through Mind, supporting people experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, and have completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), a suicide prevention and intervention programme.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
