About me

Talking to somebody independent when you experience difficult or stressful times can sometimes help to put things into perspective and help you to see things more clearly.

I am a professionally qualified counsellor based in the south of Shetland but also work online throughout the UK including with charities on the mainland

I work in private practice with clients aged 18 and over offering face to face, online and telephone counselling and am a trained online counsellor.

I am a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I work within the BACP ‘Ethical Framework for Counsellors’, and the BACP Guidelines for Online Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualifications include a degree in Applied Psychology and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I also hold a P.G.C.E.

I am ASIST trained.

I work in a client centred way and follow a humanistic existential approach which means I work with you in the here and now, in your world, with you at the centre of the process.

I have experience working with a range of issues including:

  • Stress and Anxiety
  • Self esteem
  • Depression
  • Loss and Bereavement
  • Trauma
  • Self harm
  • Transgender issues

I aim to provide a safe and confidential space where you can feel confident to explore the issues you bring.

I adhere to the Ethical Framework and Professional Conduct Procedures of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I am committed to your well-being and to providing an opportunity for you to explore what concerns you and help you identify a way forward.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
