About me

Hi there, my name is Mel and I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Norwich. Currently I am working with both face to face appointments and remote working. My goal as a counsellor is to instil hope for my clients future and their circumstances, to facilitate healing and offer a safe space for exploration and sharing of life’s difficulties. I offer a non-judgemental space and my focus is on my client and their needs. It can sometimes feel quite overwhelming and scary to reach out for support. My aim is to walk with you at your pace, hear you, listen, be with you.

PROCESS:

My process when beginning our work together is,  once contact has been made to me via my email contact address, i will make contact with you, usually by phone, which is a free service. Then we can have an understanding of how i can support you and your needs and organise our sessions together.

Training, qualifications & experience

BSc qualified as a Psychotherapeutic Integrative Counsellor.

I have worked with a variety of counselling needs and requirements. I have gained a variety of experience working with different age groups, experiences and challenges, and my focus is to offer support and safety, with no judgement with every session, and every client to facilitate healing and change.

The area's i work in most are:

Trauma - Have you experienced a personal trauma? A deeply distressing experience and are unsure what to do with it? Have you been living with this for sometime or is this a recent event? I can support you with gently and respectfully working through the effects of this trauma, both emotionally and physically, guiding you through strategies and facilitating healing with care, no judgement and respect.

Pregnancy loss & Pregnancy choices - Support with pregnancy loss, whether recent or long ago. Losing a baby at any stage can be extremely painful and difficult. I can offer support whilst you navigate your way.  Offering space and time to consider options, and to talk through fears and challenges.

Bereavement - Have you lost a loved one and are trying to navigate life without them? Grief can impact us so incredibly, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Don't hold the weight of it all alone. I can help support you.

Relationships - Support with struggling relationships. Do you need a space to be heard? Are you struggling with a partner, family member or friend? Is this impacting your confidence, self worth and day-to-day life? Our relationships play a massive part in our lives and our connections. Reach out for support.

Anxiety & Depression - When we feel anxious and/or depressed, it can feel like a massive weight to carry. This can also take form in many different ways. My aim is to support with management of this and facilitation with exploring feelings and underlining causes.

Life's Difficulties - Our day to day life can be so pressured that sometimes we lose sight of what is important. You may be feeling like you have lost a sense of who you are or what you need. Maybe you just need to work through priorities and have a focus point; whatever it may be, talking it through can really help.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
