About me

Creative arts and talking one to one therapy for adults and young people and children. Melanie offers one to one talking therapy and counselling for adults and children, young people and mothers and babies.

Therapy can help with any number of challenges in a person’s life and can be of value in any life phase. Therapy can also be the  means to gain personal growth and discover how to live your best life!

I have an interest in the links birth trauma has on life patterns and behaviours, I can work with mothers and babies in this area or a child or adult individually.

Some areas in which therapy and counselling can offer support:

  • Bereavement
  • Life transition e.g. relocation, separation from partner
  • Family disputes
  • Relationships
  • Loneliness
  • Stress
  • Insomnia
  • Self harm
  • Depression
  • Difficulty making a life decision e.g. leave a job or end a relationship
  • Low self esteem
  • Childhood trauma
  • Addiction

I have specialist experience in Early Developmental Trauma, Adoption and Attachment, families, mothers and infants, body and movement.

Virtual Therapy

Melanie uses Zoom if you'd like to meet from the comfort of your own home and to ensure distance or country is not a barrier to access therapy from me.

I work with a whole spectrum of needs and goals and find that therapy is all about the trust in the therapeutic relationship, once trust is built, the therapy really begins and the desired change can come. I follow your pace and respond to your needs as they arise.

The work could involve talking and/or creative media.  It all depends on what works for the individual. I respond moment to moment and always follow your pace and preference. My priority is creating safety and trust. I work with the whole person, feelings my arise and be felt in the body, we can work with this as well as speaking.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
