About me
Have you been feeling anxious or depressed? Perhaps you have suffered a loss - a relationship, a bereavement, a job? Are events from the past still haunting you? Maybe you are not really sure why you are feeling so low? As an experienced counsellor, I can help you to explore your thoughts and feelings, manage your symptoms and decide what changes you want to make to your life. It is often difficult to talk to friends and family about our problems due to embarrassment or fear of being a burden. As a qualified counsellor, I have been trained to listen and support you through your darkest moments.
Drop me an email or give me a call and we can arrange a free consultation to discuss your needs. After that, if you want to proceed with counselling, we can agree a day and time that suits us both and take it from there. I look forward to hearing from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an integrative therapist which means that I am trained in a number of counselling models and will tailor my approach to each client depending on their needs. I have worked with a wide range of clients with a variety of issues. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space within which I strive to provide empathy, understanding and support.
I believe that given the right environment, we can all reach our full potential. Scientists have proven that counselling can change our brains by creating new neural pathways that help us to regulate our emotions and change unhealthy patterns of thought and behaviour. I can guide you through this process drawing on various techniques including mindfulness.
Qualifications: BSc (Hons) Counselling & Psychotherapy; Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) sets, maintains and develops standards in the practice of counselling and psychotherapy.
IACP offers different membership categories, e.g. Student Member, Pre-Accredited, Accredited Member, with the different categories standing for different levels of training and experience. Accredited Members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
IACP have a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
