About me
Hello, I am Malaya Henry, a highly experienced and compassionate Person-Centred psychotherapist with a strong dedication to aiding individuals facing challenging life events. Creating a secure, trusting, and non-judgmental environment is at the core of my therapeutic approach, allowing clients to freely express their emotions and navigate difficult topics without fear of criticism.
As a therapist, my role is to provide empathetic support and active listening, refraining from offering advice while empowering clients to process their experiences and determine their preferred course of action. My commitment to tailoring therapy to each client's pace and needs ensures a collaborative and effective therapeutic journey.
In one-on-one therapy sessions, I establish a safe space to build a profound therapeutic client relationship, fostering feelings of empowerment and self-awareness, while recognising the inherent strengths and coping mechanisms within each individual.
Embracing diversity is fundamental to my practice, as I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Having personally overcome traumatic life events, I deeply value the significance of a therapeutic relationship that instills a sense of safety and understanding.
My expertise encompasses a wide array of issues, including eating disorders, bereavement, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, cultural differences, depression, long-term illness, relationships, trauma, phobias, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, self-harm, divorce, LGBTQ+ counselling, spirituality, women's issues, work-related challenges, loneliness, and drug addiction.
To ensure professional competence, I hold an MSc. in contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy from the esteemed Metanoia Institute in London. Adherence to the stringent Code of Ethics set forth by the BACP and UKCP is integral to my practice, with regular supervision and ongoing commitment to professional development.
Thank you for taking the time to acquaint yourself with my profile. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with you on your transformative journey towards healing, growth, and personal fulfilment.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
