About me

Hello and a warm. I am a fully accredited Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist (MA) with 15 years experience of providing therapy for children, parents, adults and families. I have full professional insurance and an enhanced DBS and I have a wealth of experience working with a wide variety of presenting issues across all age ranges.

I offer a warm, confidential and nurturing space, where the therapeutic relationship is key, allowing for difficulty and distress to be shared and explored and new awareness, choices and change to be made.

Some children and adolescents prefer to talk, while others want and need more creative ways of expressing themselves so I draw on a wide range of creative interventions such as sand tray, art, music, drama and play to enable your child to express what can often feel inexpressible with words alone, and to find creative and even fun solutions.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, meaning I lean on a wide range of theoretical approaches and use the best approach(s) suited specifically to your child's / your needs.

I offer face to face appointments as well as remote appointments for those who are happy to work from the comfort of home.

WHAT TO EXPECT

I initially meet with parent(s) to discuss concerns and to take a thorough history as well as taking into consideration the your and your child's hopes and wishes for therapy. This meeting usually takes 1 to 1.5 hours and we can then agree the best way forward together.

Sessions are 50 minutes in length, are on the same day and time on a weekly basis and are open to regular review.

I offer one to one sessions with children and young people, and sessions with parents and children together where appropriate.

PARENTING SESSIONS

I also have a passion for providing parenting sessions for those who want support in bonding with their child and/or strengthening their resources for the task of parenting. I offer a safe space to explore both conscious and unconscious dynamics that may be affecting your parenting or your relationship with your child/ children. I will endeavour to help you decipher what your child/ children may be trying to communicate through their behaviour, actions and words as well as support you with creative ways to parent.

BESPOKE THERAPEUTIC STORIES FOR CHILDREN

I offer bespoke therapeutic stories for children. These unique stories are written by me specifically for your child, with their own individual issues and challenges in mind, tackling theme(s) in creative ways they can relate to and offering healing solutions and outcomes. This can be so helpful to a child, and to parents also, as what is written is relatable, and easy to hear and to integrate. You and your child can read their story as often as desired, having the opportunity to then discuss the themes and ways of managing together. My intention is that it is a powerful tool to empower children to learn about themselves and to find healing, and also a powerful tool for you as a parent to be able to see your child's challenges creatively, and to have a way to reflect on these with your child. These stories can also offer you specific creative therapeutic tools to put into practice together with your child.

Your story can be used as a part of your child's therapeutic journey with me, or as a stand alone tool without therapy.

Please do feel free to get in touch should you have any questions and/or would like to explore us working together. I very much look forward to hearing from you.
