About me

Are you overwhelmed by anxious thoughts and feelings that are starting to make life difficult to enjoy? Or perhaps you are struggling with a sense of numbness and emptiness? Is the pressure of work, family life or never-ending to-do lists getting you down? Is it time for a change?

I am an Integrative Counsellor who works primarily in a person-centred way with bucketloads of empathy, compassion and acceptance. I am here to listen to you in a non-judgemental, honest and respectful space whilst providing education and practical ideas for support where needed. I currently offer one-to-one sessions online and face-to-face in Washington, Durham on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

We don’t need to be falling apart to look for a supportive space or a listening ear. I believe that, as human beings, we all want to live purposeful and fulfilling lives and that this is unique to each individual. My passion is being able to hear and connect with you to build an open, compassionate and hopeful relationship. A relationship where it feels safe to feel whatever comes up, tackle big questions or take small practical steps towards peace and confidence. I strive to create a space in which the range and diversity of human experience and identity is appreciated, accommodated and celebrated.

Whatever you are struggling with, I have experience in anxiety, depression, work-related stress, trauma, burnout, grief and bereavement or we can explore the bigger questions about how to live with and embrace joy and self-compassion. Take that first step by booking a free consultation phone call or send me an email to get a sense of how I work and what I may be able to offer you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
