About me

Hi and welcome to my profile. I am a qualified, experienced  Counsellor and Energy Medicine practitioner of many years. I work with a range of issues from Anxiety, Low Mood to Trauma-based work. I also work with Life Transitions such as any changes in your life/situation which may be causing you stress and disorientation. My style is person centred, warm, empathic and holistic, tailoring my work to you as a unique Being. In a safe, confidential space, I can support you to feel more empowered, in balance and happier in your life. I offer traditional counselling sessions for any issue, alongside other interventions such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), Inner Child Work and Shamanic Healing to help you move forward more authentically, with deeper insight, clarity and confidence. I work from my home in Wells, Somerset, and offer weekly or fortnightly sessions which can be face to face, by telephone or online via Zoom.

If you feel I can be of help, please email me at louise@spiralserpent.com to arrange a free 30 minute  consultation. It would be lovely to hear from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked as a Counsellor/Therapist since 1999 when I completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Bristol University.  For the past 18 years I have worked as a University Counsellor alongside my private practise, having  spent 12 years previous to that working in the Addiction field in Bristol.

I graduated from Leicester University in 1983 with an Honours Degree in Social Science (Psychology and Sociology) which I feel brings more depth to my Counselling work.

I have also worked as a certified EFT practitioner for the past 19 years, originally qualifying in 2007 (AAMET). I completed further training in EFT in July 2023 (EFTMRA Academy).

In addition to the above, I am a trained, experienced Shamanic practitioner. I qualified in 2008 (Northern Drum Shamanic Centre).  Please see my website for more details, if this aspect of my work interests you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
