About me
My approach is primarily to listen and understand your position, allowing me to offer therapy from a relational and trauma informed stance. I will offer you some challenge when noticing that you feel stuck or when we recognise repeating patterns, and I can help you to process historic or more recent traumatic experiences. We will work together to understand you & your experiences from your past & present & I will encourage you to consider your choices within this for your future.
As I am an integrative therapist I am not limited to one way of working. I believe we are all unique & I will tailor my approach to best meet your needs. I have supported people with a vast range of issues and I am significantly skilled and experienced in supporting people in their recovery from past difficulties that are impacting on their day to day lives and relationships. I can help you to understand and move forward from the impact of childhood abuse, domestic abuse and other traumatic experiences. I am comfortable offering short term, goal focussed or longer term, in depth therapy .
Therapy could help you to express difficult thoughts & feelings. My aim would be to encourage you to share your difficulties, helping us to understand together what has happened, how you might have been affected by your experiences and giving you insight & choices for your future.
I currently have space for new clients and I offer therapy in a safe, comfortable & confidential space from my office in central Wakefield. There are several carparks and public transport links close by.
I am a qualified Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist (DIT), which is a brief psychodynamic approach and provides a helpful framework for therapy. DIT can be particularly helpful for us to gain understanding of how our past experiences are impacting on our lives and how we still feel today.
I am a qualified EMDR practitioner and this helps me to provide safe and effective ways to help you to process traumatic experiences. This can mean moving forward from difficult life experiences without the imprint that can often be left when we experience trauma.
I trained as a Supervisor at Leeds Centre for Psychological Development and I am able to offer Supervision sessions to counsellors from trainee level to qualified and experienced.
I trained as a Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) Supervisor at The Anna Freud Centre and I am able to offer Supervision sessions to DIT therapists from trainee to qualified and experienced.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
