About me
You may be looking for therapy because you are anxious or feeling low. Perhaps you are struggling to cope with day to day stress or to accept a loss that you have experienced. You may have had difficult experiences in your past or you could be struggling with problems in relationships. Whatever your concerns are, therapy with me could help you to express difficult thoughts & feelings. My aim would be to encourage you to share your difficulties, helping us to understand together what has happened & how you might have been affected by your experiences, giving you insight & choices for your future.
As I am an integrative counsellor I am not limited to one way of working. I believe we are all unique & I will tailor my approach to best meet your needs. I have a depth of experience in working with a vast range of issues. I am experienced in working both short term, solution focussed or longer term & more in depth.
I offer therapy in a safe, comfortable & confidential space from my practice in central Wakefield, with a car park close by. My approach is primarily to listen and understand your position. I will offer you some challenge when noticing that you feel stuck or when we recognise repeating patterns. We will work together to understand you & your experiences from your past & present & I will encourage you to consider your choices within this for your future.
I have offered counselling in central Wakefield for over 10 years. I have a commitment to continuing to develop my skills as a counsellor & I access regular training to enhance my practise. I am experienced in facilitating psycho educational groups tackling many issues, such as anxiety management, understanding low mood, post natal well-being & disordered eating. I am accredited by the national organisation BACP & also work part time as a counsellor for a local organisation

Member organisations
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
