Supervision details

I work full time in private practice as a therapist and supervisor. I have been working as a therapist for 20 years, originally training at the University of Leeds as an Integrative Therapist. I am an accredited Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist (DIT) and a qualified EMDR practitioner.

As a supervisor, I enjoy supporting trainees develop their own integration of the knowledge they are absorbing and seeing it flourish in their therapeutic practice. Equally, I enjoy working collaboratively alongside qualified and experienced practitioners and feel able to offer appropriate challenge alongside validation of their work.

I find it helpful to know about some of your life experiences past and present as this allows us to consider unconscious process that may be activated in your work and relationships with your clients. I will be guided by you in regard to your aspirations for your practice and we can consider together any training and development that may benefit your work.

I originally trained as a Supervisor at Leeds Centre for Psychological Development and I offer Supervision sessions to counsellors from trainee level to qualified and experienced.

I developed my practice when I trained as an Advanced DIT Supervisor at The Anna Freud Centre and I offer Supervision sessions to DIT therapists from trainee to qualified and experienced, as well as Supervisors in training and qualified.

I offer a free initial phone call on receipt of your enquiry and if we both decide we would like to consider working together, we will book in an initial session.

Supervision sessions can take place from my comfortable & confidential office in central Wakefield. It has good public transport links and several car parks close by. I am also happy to work online with supervisees, if this fits with your practice needs.

In your initial session we will work together to understand you, your training background & your current supervision needs and we can schedule on for monthly or fortnightly sessions as appropriate.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
