About me

A warm welcome to my profile, and well done on taking the first step which is often the most difficult. I am a kind, professional and fully qualified and BACP registered counsellor and have been supporting clients in a therapeutic setting with substance abuse for the last 7 years and during this time I have come to realise that the addiction is not the problem it's the pain that keeps them in it, with this in mind I have supported clients with: Shame, Self-harm, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Bereavement, childhood issues and abuse (emotional, sexual, physical, financial).

The thought of therapy can be scary, so I offer a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space for my clients to be able to share their troubles, explore difficult and painful experiences, big feelings, difficult relationships and work towards a deeper understanding of themselves without fear of being judged. Life can be tough sometimes, we are humans after all and have overwhelming feelings that we struggle to process and sometimes use coping strategies that can be harmful to us. I use a range of skills depending upon the client need. As an integrative counsellor I don't believe that "one size fits all". My work is client led and I encourage clients to bring to sessions what is occupying their minds so they can learn a deeper understanding of self. I am happy to work over Zoom or by telephone if speaking face to face is too daunting for you right now.

I offer a free, no obligation 30 minute telephone consultation as I feel it's important that you as the client feels comfortable with a counsellor before making the decision to go ahead with the counselling process.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
