About me

Stress, anxiety, low self-esteem and depression may be familiar to you. You may have experienced panic attacks, regret or shame. You might also have long-term experience of living with trauma, abuse, bullying or harassment. It takes time to be able to start talking about these things. Therapy is a safe place to reflect on your life and to create a new basis from which to live life to its fullest potential. For many, therapy is also a place where you can improve your communication skills, your self-expression as well as resolving psychological difficulties.

Gestalt therapy works with awareness and understanding of the present – what is happening here and now with your immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Gestalt practitioners use a holistic experimental and phenomenological approach that can involve a wide range of exploratory activities as well as talk. We believe that the increased awareness this brings can help people to find new perspectives, see the bigger picture and consequently, effect positive changes in their lives:

“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” – Carl Jung.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a UKCP qualified and accredited psychotherapist with a Psychotherapy Practitioner Diploma from the London Gestalt Centre. I also hold an MA in Gestalt Therapy from London Metropolitan University and the London Gestalt Centre.

I hold both the Post Graduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in Gestalt Therapy Theory Studies from the London Gestalt Centre. In addition, I have a Certificate in Humanistic Counselling Skills from the London Gestalt Centre and a Certificate in Working with Autism from Yorkshire Hypnotherapy Training (ACCPH).

In addition to my private practice, I undertake clinical therapeutic work with the victims of international human rights abuses and I am currently undertaking pro bono clinical therapeutic work with Ukrainians who have been traumatised by war with Guilford Help Centre.

I am currently doing UKCP accredited supervision training.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Before training to become a psychotherapist, I worked as a lawyer in litigation, arbitration, tax and employment departments for 16 years. I have found my experience of working in high pressure environments with high demands and expectations very useful in my work with clients who are experiencing work-related stress, anxiety, anger, despair, fear and guilt.

I have Russian heritage, but have now lived and worked in the UK for over 12 years. My own experience of moving to a new country and starting a new life has also equipped me to understand and work with those who have experienced displacement, homesickness, adaptation anxiety, and fear of being misunderstood.
