About me

Hello and welcome. I have experience and advanced certification and training in male psychology, LGBTQ-affirming (GSRD) gender and sexual relationships, and gender studies. I specialise in understanding how biological, societal, cultural, and evolutionary factors contribute to psychological development.

My background provides a firm, concerned, passionate, personal, experienced, and academic understanding of the current male mental health (suicide) problem and the challenges that men face, including the current boy crisis in education.

I offer a compassionate, and non-judgemental safe space for you to talk and explore what is happening in your world.

My approach to psychotherapy is integrative, meaning I carefully and compassionately incorporate multiple therapeutic modalities to align with each individual's unique sense of self.

While my foundation is person-centred therapy, I also integrate psychodynamic, solution-focused, brief therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Because no single approach fits everyone's needs, this flexibility allows me to tailor therapy to diverse life experiences, genders, cultures, races, religions, sexualities, and perspectives.

I will compassionately collaborate with you to explore and uncover subconscious actions, thoughts, and behaviors. My expertise includes working with ADHD and the link with trauma, depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, abuse, (PPU) problematic pornography use, stress, sexuality, grief, relationships, attachment issues, and male and female domestic abuse.

Why integrative therapy?

It's important that the correct form of therapy (different modalities/types of therapy) is appropriate to a particular form of psychological issue, or it can cause more harm than good. For example, in physical medical terms, if a person were to arrive at the hospital with a 'broken leg' and was only given painkillers, of course, it would help with the pain short term, but the painkillers would not help the root cause of the problem (broken leg).

In psychological terms, If a person were to receive cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) but had an extremely traumatic childhood, the CBT (which is a more surface level of therapy) may help short-term (pain killers) but it would not help deal with the root cause of the problem - trauma (broken leg), which would need a trauma-informed or psychodynamic (unconscious) form of therapy.

Have you ever wondered why you form the same type of romantic relationships, or why you form romantic attachments with the same type of personalities?

How does your unconscious affect your conscious actions? I've seen many surprised reactions in therapy when we collaborate and link unconscious thoughts to conscious actions.

My training and experience have taught me that every human being is unique. Each individual has had unique childhood experiences, family introjected values, and received societal expectations/messages that can limit and damage a person's personal growth.

I offer a limited number of sessions at a reduced rate for individuals who are unemployed or on a low income (subject to availability).

Why male psychology?

I have experience in therapy with women, men, and other identities. I decided to complete extra training in male psychology, as only 36% of men reach out for help, and unfortunately, a lot of men (and young men) ask for help in the last months of their lives, before attempting suicide and boys are falling behind in education at an astonishing rate.

If you have a father, grandfather, husband, son, nephew, brother, male friend, etc, that you are concerned about. Please contact me or visit my website for further information on male mental health. Please click the website link at the top of the page.
