About me

Hello and welcome. Together, we can navigate challenges and discover effective strategies for managing emotions and handling life’s demands.

Although I work with and have experience helping all genders, I hold postgraduate qualifications alongside postgraduate training in male-centred therapy, male psychology, masculinity, male mental health, and suicide prevention.

This comprehensive perspective shapes my counselling practice, enabling me to support males with greater empathy and insight. Male psychology explores the unique mental and emotional experiences of males, examining how biology, culture, upbringing, and societal expectations can influence their behaviour and well-being. Male psychology recognises these challenges and looks at how issues like stress, depression, anger, or identity may show up differently in males, whilst taking into account each person's unique identity and lived experiences.

With extensive experience supporting people through challenges such as, but not limited to, depression, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, abuse, stress, relationship difficulties, anxiety, pornography addiction, male & female survivors of domestic abuse, grief, sexuality, trauma, and PTSD.

My work is grounded in empathy, understanding, compassion, respect, and a deep commitment to your journey toward healing and growth.

Whether you're navigating a difficult chapter or looking to understand yourself better, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where your experiences are recognised, respected, and deeply valued.

My approach to psychotherapy is integrative, meaning I use more than one therapeutic modality to suit each person's unique sense of self. I am a person-centred therapist at the core. Still, I blend in psychodynamic, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy (SFBT), as one therapeutic approach can not fit or suit unique life experiences, genders, cultures, race, sexualities, and different perspectives.

I will work with you to unearth your subconscious actions, thoughts, and behaviours.

I'm also a qualified member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), as verified by Psychology Today.

Have you ever wondered why you keep finding yourself in similar romantic relationships, or why you're drawn to certain personality traits in partners? Or maybe you're curious about how your unconscious mind might influence your conscious actions? I've often seen clients react with surprise in therapy when we explore how unconscious thoughts are connected to the actions they take.

My training and experience have taught me that every human being is unique. Each individual has had unique childhood experiences, family introjected values, and received societal expectations/messages that can limit and damage a person's personal growth.

I offer a limited number of sessions at a reduced rate for individuals who are unemployed or on a low income (subject to availability).

Testimonials:

''Kevin was my counsellor, he helped me through my grief and relationship breakdown. I’m eternally grateful for the help and support he has provided. It’s such a great service. Highly recommend to anyone''

(male, 30s)

Why male psychology?

I have experience in therapy with women, men, and other identities. I decided to complete extra training in male psychology and male depression (male depression can be expressed in different ways) as only 36% of men reach out for help, and unfortunately, a lot of men (and young men) ask for help in the last months of their lives, before attempting suicide, and boys are falling behind in education at an astonishing rate.

If you have a father, grandfather, husband, son, nephew, brother, male friend, etc, that you are concerned about. Please contact me or visit my website for further information on male mental health. Please click the website link at the top of the page.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have experience supporting people with Klinefelter Syndrome and Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (CAIS) — helping them make sense of the emotional, physical, and identity-related challenges that can come with these diagnoses.

I also support people who are struggling with Problematic Pornography Use (PPU), especially when it starts to impact relationships, self-esteem, or brings up a lot of shame and guilt.

My approach is LGBTQ-affirming, and I care deeply about creating space for people to explore their identity, relationships, and desires without judgment. I often work with people who are navigating questions around testosterone, masculinity, and the pressure to fit into certain roles, helping them unpack those experiences and reconnect with a sense of self that feels true and grounded.
