About me
Hello, I’m Kayley, a CPCAB-qualified integrative counsellor in private practice. I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel truly heard, and explore whatever may be bringing you to counselling.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for many years across social care, mental health and community support services. My experience includes supporting adults with learning disabilities and working as a Social Prescriber within GP surgeries. Through these roles, I worked alongside people experiencing a wide range of emotional, social and practical challenges, including periods of change, vulnerability and uncertainty.
These experiences continue to shape my counselling practice today, giving me a grounded understanding of how life's pressures, relationships and past experiences can affect our wellbeing. They have also reinforced my belief in the importance of feeling safe, accepted and understood.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred, Gestalt and Psychodynamic theory. This allows me to tailor therapy to your unique needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we can explore the connections between your past and present experiences, increase self-awareness, and develop greater self-compassion and understanding.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative process. I am not here to judge, rush you or tell you what to do. Instead, I offer a calm, steady presence and a genuine belief in each person's capacity for growth, healing and change. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences and supporting you in finding a way forward that feels right for you.
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss, life changes, struggles with self-esteem, the impact of difficult past experiences, or simply a sense that something doesn't feel quite right. Whatever your reason for seeking support, counselling can offer a dedicated space to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
I offer both online and face-to-face counselling sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, with appointments available between 9:00am and 8:00pm.
For face-to-face work, I provide counselling from a variety of comfortable and welcoming settings in and around Midsomer Norton, including a beautiful wooden lodge in Writhlington, a private room on a working farm in Stratton-on-the-Fosse, and a counselling space within my own home in Midsomer Norton. I also offer online sessions for those who are further afield or prefer the flexibility of remote therapy.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative and tailored to you. Together, we can explore what is happening in your life, identify recurring patterns, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and work towards meaningful and lasting change.
Choosing a counsellor can feel like an important decision, which is why I offer a free 15 to 30-minute telephone or online consultation. This gives us an opportunity to meet, discuss what has brought you to counselling, and explore whether we feel like a good fit to work together. There is no obligation to continue if it does not feel right for you.
Whether you are looking for short-term support around a specific issue or seeking longer-term therapeutic work, I aim to provide a safe, accepting and confidential space where you can feel supported throughout your journey.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a CPCAB-qualified Integrative Counsellor and have completed:
CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
AIM Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
AIM Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
My training has provided me with a strong foundation in Person-Centred, Gestalt and Psychodynamic approaches, enabling me to tailor therapy to the unique needs and experiences of each client.
Alongside my counselling qualifications, I bring extensive experience from working within social care, mental health and community settings. Prior to becoming a counsellor, I supported adults with learning disabilities across a variety of care environments, helping individuals to feel safe, understood and empowered. I also worked as a Social Prescriber within GP surgeries, supporting people facing a wide range of emotional, mental health and social challenges and helping them access appropriate support within their communities.
These roles have given me valuable experience working with people experiencing anxiety, low mood, loneliness, relationship difficulties, life transitions, loss, low self-esteem, and the emotional impact of complex life circumstances. They have deepened my understanding of the many ways our relationships, life experiences and environments can influence our wellbeing.
I am committed to my ongoing professional development and maintain high professional standards through regular clinical supervision, continuing professional development (CPD), and adherence to the BACP Ethical Framework.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
