About me

You've made an important step towards feeling better just by looking at this directory - it takes courage to ask for help. I know finding a counsellor that feels right is important so I hope my profile gives you a sense of how I work with my clients.

I’m a fully qualified, registered and experienced psychotherapeutic integrative counsellor and provide compassionate, empathic and confidential private counselling to a wide variety of clients. I care deeply about providing a safe space for you to explore your experiences, feelings and thoughts in order to feel better in life. I’ve helped people to work through many issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and self-confidence, trauma and PTSD, bereavement and loss, stress, loneliness and social anxiety, neurodiversity and adult diagnoses (e.g. ADHD), suicidal thoughts and the legacy left by abuse and neglect. Please see the list below for the full details of what I see in my practice.

Rather than meeting you with a singular way of working in mind, as an integrative counsellor I call upon a breadth of well-researched and supported approaches and seek to establish a therapeutic relationship which will enable us to work together, side by side, on what you choose to bring to your sessions.

I’m passionate that change is possible but equally aware that at the start, many clients don’t feel that way. I see you as a whole person in the context of your life, appreciating your experiences in mind, body and soul and give as much focus to your past as to your present. I offer a calm and personal approach to help you to observe your feelings, behaviours and beliefs and how they have affected your life and am experienced at working in a trauma-informed way, prioritising emotional safety and helping you to grow in your awareness, calm your anxieties and develop your own meaningful inner compassion.

I understand that starting counselling can be scary so we work together at your pace to heal the pain and suffering that has brought you to this point. I hope you see something that feels right for you in this profile and I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BSc (Hons) Degree and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling and I'm registered with both the UKCP and BACP, working to their ethical and professional standards. This is integral to my practice.

In addition to my private practice, my work includes working voluntarily for MIND, the national mental health charity, with experience across a wide variety of clients and presenting issues.

I regularly attend further training to continue to grow my practice.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
