About me
Hello, I am Dr Justina Somal, I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years clinical experience.
Everyone needs a helping hand at times, and therapy can be a place where thoughts and feelings can be sensitively explored, in a safe, therapeutic environment. I am passionate about supporting people to live their life in the way they desire, but sometimes this can be a difficult journey on our own.....I am here to help.
I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Division of Counselling Psychology (DCoP). I have over 20 years of extensive clinical experience within statutory and private clinical settings, working with adults, teenagers and children. My practice is offered in the contexts of 1:1, couples, families and groups. I have established numerous self-development programs for various local services.
My therapeutic modality is underpinned with humanistic therapies, and is client-led. Therefore, the pace and shape of the work will be guided by you, as well as your readiness and willingness to work towards change. I integrate a range of models in my practice including, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Schema Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), DBT, ACT and Expressive Therapies.
I specialise in a number of areas including:
- Complex Trauma & PTSD
- Identity Issues
- Family & Relationships
- Parenting Packages
- Grief & Loss
- Expressive Therapies
- Addictions
My practice is integrative, which means I will tailor the treatment plan that is best suited to your needs.
You are welcome to book a free 20-minute initial consultation to give you the opportunity to discuss your needs, ask questions directly and a chance to explore whether you would like to work together.
Currently, I do not offer any face to face appointments. All appointments are delivered via virtual platform.
