About me

If you are here you have come to the right place, my name is Julie and I am an accredited BACP counsellor working with individuals and couples.

Many of us experience times when things feel overwhelming or difficult, perhaps you are suffering with anxiety, depression or you may be feeling low and not sure why? Relationships can be strained and be causing you some sadness or distress.

I am an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist working from a person-centred base and offering relational talking therapy for individuals and couples, the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client is key to successful therapy, my clients have said they feel "heard", "validated" and able to share their thoughts and feelings in a safe confidential space.

Couples working with me have said they felt "held", "safe" and able to open up to each other and repair their relationships, gaining tools to help them communicate, they feel able to reconnect and positive about the future.

By working together in a relational way we can find the best therapeutic approach for you. Are past traumas keeping you stuck? therapy can help you understand how you can approach dealing with your past and also help you shape your future.

I have assisted clients with a wide range of issues such as relationship difficulties, trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, abuse, low self-worth, feeling sad, eating problems, stress, bereavement, trust, anger, there are many reasons that people seek therapy,  Lets explore what you need and tailor therapy to suit you.

I am trained to work with clients who are exploring ADHD - diagnosed or not,  how this impacts their lives, offering you understanding and compassion.

I work with women through the menopause which can be a difficult both physically and psychologically and such a challenging time.

I am easily accessible for clients living in Ilkley, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Menston, Guiseley, Bradford and surrounding areas. In my Leeds16 clinic , Adel, Cookridge, Horsforth, Headingley are nearby.

Thank you for viewing my profile, you have taken the first steps,  feel free to make contact and we can arrange a suitable time to talk and if you feel we can work together we can arrange a face to face or on-line session to suit you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
