About me
Hello, I am Julie-Ann.
I am a counsellor based in Dorset, offering online and face to face appointments. The counselling is typically short-term, focusing on specific current issues, whereas psychotherapy usually involves longer-term work addressing deep-rooted issues.
I specialise in:
Addiction - I was Health Justice Lead for REACH Drug & Alcohol services for over four years until 2025.
Trauma - especially Sexual Trauma, having worked in refuge and a Sexual Trauma and Recovery charity STARS for two years.
Bereavement - as I currently work for MOSAIC, counselling children who have lost a loved one.
I also specialise in parenting having completed the Incredible Years train the trainer programme and currently work in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for the NHS in Dorset. I specialise in LGBTQIA+ challenges. I also work with a myriad of other issues from anxiety and depression to neurodiversity to menopause, so please feel free to contact me.
I am insured, accredited via The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and a member of the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).
I have a lovely counselling room in the Dorset countryside where I would like to welcome you for face to face sessions.
I offer a 15 minute consultation free - to assess if we will be a therapeutic fit for each other.

Further information
Integrative counselling is a flexible, holistic therapy that blends techniques from different approaches (like CBT, humanistic, psychodynamic) to create a personalised treatment plan, recognising that no single method fits everyone, and focuses on the "whole person" (thoughts, feelings, behaviours, experiences) for tailored support. It's a collaborative process where the therapist draws from various tools, such as mindfulness, CBT, or person-centred therapy, to address the client's unique needs, making therapy more adaptable and comprehensive for issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma.
