About me

We can all experience times in our lives when we feel it would be beneficial to talk to someone, to help make sense of what we're going through.

Maybe you are experiencing a particularly difficult time, or perhaps counselling and therapy is something that you've been curious about.

My name is Julia and I offer counselling in Hackney and Walthamstow tailoring different types of therapy to meet your individual needs.

I offer a warm, calm space where together we can explore and try to make sense of what has brought you to counselling.

I believe that difficulties we are experiencing now can have their roots in the past. I think that therapy should be a place where previous experiences can be explored and understood, as well as focusing on what is affecting you in the here and now.

I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

I am experienced in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with :

  • Anxiety
  • Relationships
  • Panic Attacks
  • Self esteem
  • Bereavement
  • Life limiting illness
  • Depression, and
  • Disability

My East London practice is in Hackney within easy reach of the City, and to Dalston and Haggerston overground stations and Walthamstow within easy reach of Walthamstow Central and Walthamstwo Queens Road stations.

For the last 2 years I have worked at Mind in Brentwood and the Centre for Better Health in Hackney seeing clients from a range of backgrounds and presenting problems.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
