About me

A Warm Welcome

Hi, my name is Jo and I'm a fully qualified, experienced counsellor and supervisor. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

I have been described by those who know me, including past and present clients as a very kind, compassionate, empathic and gentle person, who provides a supportive safe space where you can be totally yourself, with no judgements or assumptions, just in receipt of a warm heart and a listening ear.

You can attend sessions in the privacy of my counselling room, situated in the Willow Therapy Centre, in the heart of Broadstairs. Here, you are given the confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions at your own pace. Alternatively, I do offer counselling sessions online, if you would prefer.

My hope is that over time we will create a strong therapeutic relationship, built on trust. Here, every emotion and your vulnerability is welcomed and can be held and nurtured whilst you work through your issues and concerns. Over time, you can process whatever comes up, whilst I aim to support you. Part of my role is to increase your self-awareness, assisting you to find your own solutions and strategies, to help and empower you, bring about growth, positive change and hopefully to heal and move forward.

The counselling therapy I offer is called integrative, which draws upon a number of theories and techniques, enabling me to tailor the counselling to suit your own unique and individual needs. This includes talking therapy as well as appropriate use of creative methods.

If you have any queries, concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call. We can then have an informal chat about what you are looking for and your expectations. This is a free, no-obligation consultation which will hopefully assist you in making a more informed decision about the next step you wish to take.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest Regards

Jo

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
