About me

Life can feel like we're trying our hardest to do the right thing, yet still find ourselves being critical of what we do. We can appreciate some aspects of a relationship, and at the same time feel deeply wounded by others.

Perhaps you are navigating a heavy loss, feeling entirely burnt out, or standing at a crossroads - wanting things to change, but not sure why or how. Change might feel impossible, or the alternatives too daunting to contemplate, if any can be imagined at all.

Maybe everything looks fine from the outside, but something feels out of balance within. You might be experiencing anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, or living with a persistent sense of lack. Therapy is a place where you do not have to have all the answers. You don't need to package your struggles to sound reasonable before you reach out.

We are undoubtedly shaped by our histories, but we are never entirely reducible to them. By learning to inhabit ourselves more deeply, we begin to see our lives through a different lens - opening up new possibilities in how we relate to ourselves, how we connect with others, and how we choose to live.

How I work

Giving words to your inner world can feel daunting. You might worry about being judged, struggle to find the right words, or have no idea where to start. I offer a warm space and an opportunity to speak openly, without pressure to have things figured out. We go at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Much of how we move through the world is influenced by invisible rules - the expectations of our families, our cultures, and the wider systems we grew up in. Often, these expectations are so familiar that we don't notice how much room they take up inside us. Therapy offers an opportunity to pause, question these expectations, and consider what feels right for you.

Alongside talking, there are opportunities to explore through imagery, creative expression, or simply noticing what you are experiencing in your body in the present moment. There is no rigid way you are expected to work here; we find our way together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I also hold a qualification in Transpersonal Coaching from Alef Trust and am a qualified yoga teacher.

My approach is integrative, weaving together psychodynamic depth, humanistic warmth, and transpersonal perspective.

My background in mindfulness and yoga informs my therapeutic work. Having practised mindfulness since 2005 and taught since 2018, I have deepened my understanding of how our thoughts, emotions, and physical bodies hold our stories together.

My ongoing professional development includes courses with Thomas Hübl and Dan Siegel, whose work on trauma, relationships, awareness, and the integration of mind and body continues to inform my understanding and practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees

£65.00 per session

Additional information

My standard fee is £65 for a 50-minute session.

I believe financial circumstances should not be a barrier to accessing open-ended therapy. With this in mind, I offer a limited number of concessionary places for those who may find the full fee difficult to manage. Please feel free to ask about availability.

I also offer a free 20-minute introductory consultation online, with no obligation to continue.

Further information

Taking the first step usually comes with a mix of relief and hesitation. You might be wondering if this is the right timing, or if I am the right person to sit with you.

Finding the right person to journey with you is an important part of therapy. Feeling genuinely seen and met can bring a sense of ease when exploring what may be difficult - things that perhaps were dismissed or downplayed by others, or even by yourself, in the past.

I offer a free 20-minute introductory consultation online. It’s a chance to share a little bit about what is bringing you to therapy, ask me any questions, and get a real sense of how it feels to talk with me. There is no obligation to continue.

If we decide to work together, our first full session is an opportunity to look at your current landscape and what you hope to move toward. We just begin where you are.

I offer weekly counselling sessions online and in person in Derby. Online sessions are available wherever you are based.
