About me
Hello and welcome. I'm Jemma, a psychotherapist and relationship therapist with nine years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families through some of life's most difficult moments.
Before opening my private practice, I worked at the Royal Free Hospital within the liaison psychiatric team, an experience that gave me a deep grounding in complex mental health presentations and the kind of clinical rigour that I carry into every session I offer today.
I work from my consulting room on Wimpole Street in central London, and I also offer online sessions to clients across the UK and globally. Wherever you are, and whatever has brought you here, my aim is to offer you a space that is genuinely safe, free of judgement, and entirely focused on you.
I am also a qualified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapist, a clinically proven treatment recommended by the NHS and NICE for trauma and PTSD. I find it particularly powerful for people who feel stuck and who have tried to process something through talking alone but find that the emotional weight of it simply hasn't shifted.
Why People Come to See Me
People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. You may be feeling overwhelmed, distressed, or simply disconnected from yourself. You may want to explore the past, process difficult life events, work through something that happened to you, or just better understand your own patterns and behaviours. Whatever brings you here, you don't need to have it figured out before you get in touch.
What I Help With
For individuals, I work with:
• Anxiety and persistent worry
• Work-related stress and burnout
• Depression and low mood
• Low self-esteem and low self-worth
• Trauma and sexual abuse
• EMDR therapy for trauma including PTSD
For couples, I work with:
• Communication difficulties and persistent conflict
• Affairs and rebuilding trust after betrayal
• Considering separation or navigating the end of a relationship
• Reconnecting and rebuilding intimacy after growing apart
For families, I work with:
• Improving communication between parents and children
• Rebuilding relationships within the family unit
• Supporting families through significant change or conflict
How I Work
I place great importance on developing a trusting, safe, and collaborative relationship with every client. In that supportive environment, we work as a team, developing a shared understanding of what you're going through and how it is affecting your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and daily life.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw from a range of evidence-based psychotherapeutic modalities rather than applying a single fixed method to every person. My main focus is always you, and I tailor the way I work to your individual needs, your personality, and the issues you bring to sessions.
My training and academic background spans Counselling and Psychotherapy, EMDR Therapy, Relationship Therapy, and Business and Psychology. A combination that I find particularly valuable when working with professionals navigating the intersection of their working lives and personal wellbeing.

Consultations: £130 , Individuals: £150 per session, Couples and families: £200 per session

“Jemma Dennis is the most incredible therapist — I can't recommend her more highly. Over the past 18 months, she has supported me through an incredibly difficult period of my life with compassion, patience, and deep insight. What stood out most was her ability to really listen — not just to what I was saying, but to what I was struggling to put into words. She helped me untangle complex emotions, rebuild my confidence, and gradually find a sense of calm and stability again. Therapy with her was not about quick fixes, but about understanding, growth, and learning how to feel grounded and at peace with myself. I now feel stronger, more self-aware, and far more at ease than I did when I first started. I am deeply grateful for her support and would wholeheartedly recommend Jemma to anyone looking for a thoughtful, skilled, and genuinely caring therapist.”
Individual client, 18 months of therapy
“I've worked with Jemma for almost three years now and can honestly say these sessions have changed my life. I came in to see her suffering from anxiety and low self-esteem around a relationship and am now happier and more confident than I've ever been. Would highly recommend Jemma!”
Individual client, almost 3 years of therapy
“I worked with Jemma through two really challenging years of my life, during which she supported me to understand why I was experiencing challenges with work, family, and in romantic relationships. She is a truly empathetic, intelligent, and understanding therapist who was really flexible in how we worked and ultimately helped me to build a stronger, more compassionate relationship with myself. I'll always be grateful for the changes that she helped me make to my life over this time and couldn't recommend her highly enough.”

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
