About me

I have lived experience of my own mental health crisis and this led me to become a counsellor to sit beside those that are quietly crying out for someone to listen to them.

My approach to working integrates person centred and psychodynamic theory and focuses on your agenda and what you need from counselling.

This means I use all my skills to help you understand how you may feel about your difficulties, incorporating different psychological strategies and models to comprehend your experiences, then working to see how to overcome these barriers and become more aware of your own potential through self actualisation so you can achieve what you need to become the best that you can be.

In practice I use listening and talk therapy working with adults of all ages offering 1:1 therapeutic sessions.

Face to face sessions are available in Watford, Rickmansworth and Kings  Cross, London in confidential spaces and many clients choose to work online via Zoom or Teams for convenience and to help with budgeting.

I offer long-term and short-term therapy, whilst long term therapy is considered most desirable, the cost of therapy, as I know from my own experience, can be a barrier to seeking much needed help hence the opportunity to also work in shorter bursts if required.

When you first make contact we can discuss and agree the specific framework for working together ... it's an important step in a successful therapeutic relationship.

It all starts with your first move

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Insurers may have special qualifying criteria so please check with them BEFORE making an Initial Consultation unless you are willing to pay directly even if you can't claim from your Insurer.

In general Insurers are very bad/slow payers and so I would only wish to engage if you are able to pay direct and then claim back from your insurer or health cash plan. This is because our relationship is very important and my focus needs to be on you and not whether or not I have been paid.
