About me

I am an certified Integrative Therapist, trained in Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural and Psychodynamic approaches to therapy. I am also undertaking an MA in Anthropology because my therapeutic approach centres on the idea that effective therapeutic collaboration considers the impact of evolutionary psychology, gender and queer theory, cultural, socioeconomical and linguistic influences.

I strive to practice in a way that is holistic, nurturing and dynamic. My aim is to facilitate a space for individual clients to talk and explore their problems and pain, but also heighten awareness and understanding about the blocks that are maintaining their difficulties. By making what is unconscious, conscious we begin to create an effective way forward.

I invite my clients to expand their conception of self by relating to the many parts that make them whole. I hope to deepen a connection to self in a way that considers their mind, body, spirit, and emotions. My love for this work comes from a tender and nurturing acceptance of my own humanness, and the inevitable struggles that come with being a human being. I work, as much as possible, within the dynamic of the present moment. My active role in listening, attending to and responding; use of reflection, potent questioning and creativity strives to offer a sense of restoration and vitality for each client.

Training, qualifications & experience

MBACP, BA HONS, FdSc, Cert Level 2 & 3.

We will aim to formulate an individualised plan in which we consider a holistic approach that helps you connect to your self through heightened mind and body awareness. We will agree on how many sessions to meet (usually six to 24, depending on the duration and complexity) and help you work towards your set goals and values.

I also have completed further training in WAVE Trauma, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Personality Disorder Awareness, and ASIST.

My therapeutic style is heavily influenced by a Humanistic core; focused on the safety of a non-judgemental, empathic and congruent relationship. A Cognitive-Behavioural awareness of how our thoughts and emotions are directly linked to behaviour and feelings. Also a Psychodynamic focus on how the past unresolved, presents itself in the present.

I have experience working with a wide range of presenting issues from inter personal difficulties, attachment issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self-harm, and suicide ideation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
