About me
There are many ways to talk about therapy and what it can offer. For me, the most meaningful language is the language of connection. Many of the experiences that bring people to therapy can be understood as forms of disconnection — from yourself, your values, your environment, or the people around you. Therapy can offer a space to explore the nature of that disconnection and, just as importantly, to experience reconnection.
I am integratively trained, which means I draw on a variety of therapeutic models and theories to tailor a bespoke approach that fits you. In sessions I aim to be collaborative and responsive, working together with you to attend to whatever feels most important in the moment. To this end, I may offer reflections, insights, challenges, experiments, mindfulness exercises, and invitations to explore bodily sensation.
Over time, our work together will allow you to experience connection through new ways of relating to yourself, your experiences, your relationships, and your environment. This can facilitate change that previously felt impossible.
I have extensive experience working with a wide range of experiences such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Self-esteem and self-worth
- Neurodivergence and related diagnoses
- Personality disorder and related diagnoses
- Bereavement and grief
- Relationship difficulties
- Work-related challenges
- Burn out and chronic stress
- Current or historic trauma
- Panic attacks and phobias
- Sex and intimacy concerns
This is not an exhaustive list; if you're wondering if we can work together, I'm always happy to chat.
I have undertaken additional training to be able to work in a trauma-informed way - recognising the widespread impact of trauma and proactively creating a therapeutic space that prioritises safety, choice, and trust.
I strongly believe therapy has the potential to benefit everyone. I welcome and work with people of all life stages, neurotypes, sexual orientations, gender identities, and cultural backgrounds. Before working together you may wish to know more about me and I’m happy to answer any questions.
I offer a free, no-commitment, 20 minute video call as a first step. This is an opportunity to see if we'd be a good match working together. I appreciate that starting therapy is a big step, so if you have any questions about what therapy with me would look like then please get in touch!
I have more information about my practice and about talking therapy more broadly on my website at www.jamieosmiththerapy.com. Thank you!
Training, qualifications & experience
I am BACP-accredited therapist with a Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My primary training was integrative, and I'm trained in the psychodynamic, person-centred, and gestalt approaches. This broad foundation allows me to tailor therapy in a way that genuinely fits your unique needs, supporting you in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
I bring extensive experience from working in the mental health sector both in the UK and internationally, supporting people in a wide range of contexts. To deepen my practice and ensure I provide the most respectful and effective therapy, I have undertaken additional training to work in an anti-oppressive way, recognising and addressing power dynamics and systemic inequalities. I am also trained in trauma-informed approaches that prioritise safety and empowerment, in neurodivergence-affirmative practice that values diverse ways of thinking and experiencing the world, and in supporting Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) with sensitivity and respect.
In addition to my therapeutic work, I hold a teaching qualification and regularly provide best-practice mental health training to professionals.
I am passionate about creating a safe, welcoming space where you can explore your experiences openly, experiment with new ways of being, and find meaningful, lasting change.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
