Counselling can be whatever you need it to be even if you don’t know what you need.
I work on the understanding that all humans have the capacity to know what is best for them but a bit of time, space and the right conditions can be helpful for it to flourish. As an Integrative therapist I will offer you these conditions and bring my knowledge of various therapeutic approaches to support you towards where you want to be.
The first session is usually about getting to know each other and deciding if I am the right fit for you. Over time we will explore your experiences, perhaps looking at them in new ways, at a pace that is set together to suit you.
Starting counselling can feel daunting at first, I know, but your wellbeing, safety and security are always at the heart of what I offer. Let's have a talk and see where we go from there.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have felt what a difference counselling can make in my own life when I needed the assistance of someone outside my usual circle and I have seen the difference some time with a counsellor can make in others' lives too. I trained for 4 years towards my Professional Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and I have worked as a counsellor with organisations supporting people who have suffered sexual and domestic abuse, and people struggling with substance dependency, experiences often resulting in anxiety, depression and post trauma stress.
My other work has included being a live-in support worker to adults with learning disabilities; being out in all weathers as a postman; spending lively days as a child play worker, and serving a variety of customers in a bustling cafe.
