About me

Hello, I'm Hillary, an Integrative Counsellor based in North Leeds. Offering both online and in-person appointments.

About me and my therapy practice:

As an integrative therapist, I draw from a variety of theories and approaches to tailor my work to meet your individual needs. Whether you are seeking short-term support or longer-term therapy, I'm here to explore your thoughts and feelings with you. Deciding to speak to a Counsellor can be daunting, but I'm here to help.

What to expect in our sessions

Our sessions are designed to help you achieve the outcomes you desire from counselling. I provide a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space where we can work at a pace that is comfortable for you. This may involve exploring current and past issues, unravelling complexities in your present relationships and experience, and finding a way forward.

Special interests

In my private practice, I have a special interest in working with clients dealing with bereavement and loss. If you're seeking understanding, support, and a way forward, I'm here to accompany you on your journey.

Experience and approach

I am experienced in supporting individuals dealing with anxiety and low mood. I work be accompanying clients through their emotional pain, helping make sense of it. I draw upon a diverse range of techniques and methods, always honouring the client's preferred pace. My ultimate goal is to empower clients by fostering self-understanding and self-compassion.

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m a qualified, BACP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist and adhere to their Code of Ethics.

I am also a qualified Coach, here I have experience of working with individuals to navigate personal change and work related stress.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
