About me

I offer counselling for adults, often men, experiencing the impact of unresolved trauma, emotional overwhelm, and disconnection. This may relate to difficult childhood experiences, abuse or neglect, bereavement or loss, military service, discrimination distress, neurodivergent masking and burnout, or environments where emotional needs were not safely met.

Many people I work with feel exhausted from coping alone. On the surface they may appear capable or emotionally contained, or they may experience emotional overwhelm, shutdown, or unpredictable reactions. Underneath this, there is often anxiety, depression, shame, anger, grief, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, hypervigilance, flashbacks, negative coping strategies, physical tension, burnout, or a persistent sense of feeling stuck.

I offer a grounded, steady space where you do not have to hold everything together. Sessions move at your pace and may include talking things through, exploring emotions, noticing patterns, and gently making sense of what keeps you stuck or overwhelmed.

I work in a person-centred, trauma-informed, humanistic existential way. This means we focus on your experience, how you relate to yourself and others, and the patterns that may have developed to cope with difficult experiences. Together, we explore what feels meaningful for you and how change might begin to emerge.

Alongside talking therapy, I draw on somatic approaches to support body awareness, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation, recognising that trauma is often held in the body as well as the mind.

Woven throughout is Wild Therapy - an ethos that present in all sessions. While this work is often conducted outdoors, it is just as powerful when brought into the counselling room. It is less about setting and more about gently stepping outside familiar patterns, having the untamed courage to explore your edges and your experience more honestly, noticing what may have been pushed aside, and recovering what has become unhelpfully domesticated/sedimented. Outdoor sessions are optional,  but some people find nature supports grounding and perspective, offering a sense of connection and belonging.

What matters most is the relationship we build together. You do not need the right words or a clear starting point, just a willingness to turn up as you are. We work at your pace.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
