About me
Hi, I'm Gail, and thank you for visiting my page.
I believe no matter what difficulties or challenges we face, each and every one of us has what we need for change already within us, only sometimes, we need the space, time and safety of a trusting and impartial relationship to help us find our way forward.
Sometimes our difficulties are clear to us, sometimes they are not clear at all. Life can throw us unimaginable challenges, or we work hard to keep everything together, before it becomes too difficult to manage alone.
How I work
I consider myself to be compassionate, collaborative and kind. Working at a pace and depth which is comfortable for you, I can help you to explore your thoughts and feelings, gently and safely challenging, to move forwards in your life with new insights, greater clarity and wellbeing.
Whether you are hoping to develop healthier coping skills, break unhelpful patterns, nurture self-esteem or confidence, or are seeking genuine healing related to unresolved trauma, counselling can help.
How counselling can help
Do you feel that low self-esteem or anxious thoughts are holding you back from building the life you want? Perhaps a harsh or critical inner voice is causing you stress, anxiety, and bringing you down, impacting on your relationships. Do you feel that you worry about the feelings and expectations of others, about making mistakes, or letting people down?
Issues such as these, and how we interpret and respond to them, can have a significant impact on our relationships, our work, our wellbeing and our sense of self.
I am trained in helping people affected by trauma. Whether you have experienced a painful and traumatic event, or are living with the impact of unresolved childhood experiences, counselling can help you to understand the emotional, mental and physical responses you may experience, the ways in which your life and relationships may have been affected, and support you in moving forwards in your life with self-compassion and an increased sense of safety and empowerment.
Alongside this work, I help people experiencing issues including, but not limited to, sadness, depression, anxiety, feelings of guilt or shame, grief and loss, intrusive and/or distressing thoughts, difficulties with anger, relationship issues, parenting, peri/menopause, major life transitions, issues at work, and the impact of abusive relationships (past and present).
I specialise in supporting clients with:
Relationship difficulties
Low self-esteem or confidence
Social anxiety
Developmental or complex trauma
Parentification trauma
Post-natal issues and early parenthood
If you are going though difficult times, are feeling worried, low or overwhelmed and you would like to talk to someone, or if you want to safely explore difficult experiences, feelings, thoughts, or patterns of behaviour, please do get in touch.
I offer a free, thirty minute, no obligation in-person or telephone consultation, where we can talk about what has brought you to consider counselling and how we might work together. Sessions are one hour, and can be face-to-face in my dedicated counselling room, online, or on the telephone.

Having worked therapeutically with children for many years, I feel incredibly privileged to work part-time with a charity which provides counselling for children and young people across Cornwall.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
