About me
Do you feel like you are carrying a weight that no one else can see, that never quite lifts no matter what you do?
Does worry keep you up at night, with concerns about the future, or the pressure of holding everything together? Maybe you find yourself caught in cycles of worry or self-doubt, constantly questioning if you’re doing enough, getting it right, or letting others down.
Maybe you carry a feeling of guilt, or find yourself getting angry over small things and don’t fully understand why. Perhaps, you push your anger down because you feel like you don’t have the right to be upset, while longing for the understanding and support to find your way forwards.
If you feel that you would like to talk to someone, even if you’re not sure where to begin, I am here to listen and to provide meaningful emotional support. I understand how deeply issues such as worry, anxiety, or feelings of sadness or isolation can affect how it feels to be you as well as your daily life.
How Counselling Can Help
I will help you by truly understanding your needs, listening with care, respect, and openness. We can explore difficult feelings in a way that feels safe, without judgment and without pressure, and make sense of your experiences and thoughts. As we work through this, you may begin to feel lighter, clearer, and stronger — able to move forward in life with more peace, the potential for joy, and a sense of hope for the future.
Working with farmers and their family members: I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by farmers and farming families. Having always been involved in farming and rural communities, I have a particular interest in working with the mental and emotional complexities of farming life. I can provide a safe space to talk and be heard without judgment, where we can explore the stresses, pressures, and emotional toll that farming life can bring.
A Testimonial
“Please, make contact if you need to be listened to. Gail is professional and offers warmth, care and meticulous attention in a private, safe and comfortable environment. Gail has a wealth of trustworthy knowledge and a breadth of experience. You would very much struggle to find a human with more kindness”. James Naylor
Whether it is a safe space to talk openly and find acceptance and compassion, or a more guiding support you feel you need, my approach is tailored to meeting the needs and circumstances of each person. I recognise the importance of valuing the unique sets of experiences, perspectives and values my clients bring. In a therapeutic relationship built on safety and trust, I support my clients to more deeply understand their own stories in a way which is informative, empowering and freeing.
Some of the issues my clients typically come to me for help with include:
Self-esteem and self-doubt: The experiences and influences we have in childhood, and often present in our adult lives, shape the way we see ourselves and the world. Together, we can gently explore and challenge self-doubt, helping you build confidence, self-respect, and a more positive, grounded sense of who you are.
Guilt and Shame: Living with guilt or shame can have a real impact on ourselves, our relationships and our quality of life, but these emotions don’t define who we are. Together we can explore the ways you and your life are affected and you’ll have my support as you find a way forward which is founded on self-compassion and acceptance.
Social Anxiety: I work with you to explore and understand your unique experiences with social anxiety in a supportive, empathetic way. Through gentle conversations, we can uncover the underlying thoughts and feelings that contribute to your anxiety, and I’ll support you in finding strategies that feel right for you.
Anger: I understand that anger can be overwhelming and isolating - we can safely and gently explore what's underneath it, work through it together at your own pace, and find ways to help you find peace within yourself, and feel more true to who you are.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
