Background Experience
I am a Relate trained counsellor, working with individuals, couples and with people who have a concern about a relationship eg parents and adult children; siblings; in laws etc.
I began my career as a qualified social worker, working as a mental health specialist caseworker and with Bradford Education's School and Family Service (formerly known as Child Guidance) as a systemic family therapist before moving to the NHS.
I worked in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Leeds as a therapist / manager but then pursued more senior management roles. On leaving the NHS I trained as a relationship therapist and worked in Leeds for Relate Mid Yorkshire, from 2014 to 2018 until they went into administration.
My Theoretical Approach
Since 2018 I have been in private practice, working both online and face to face. I use an integrative modality drawing on ideas both from psychodynamic and systemic theory .
What Can You Expect from Counselling?
I offer confidential weekly counselling, working on Mondays and Tuesdays. The initial appointment is always an assessment so that both the client(s) and I can check out that we are comfortable working together.
Relationships can complex and it is not surprising that most of us experience difficulties at some point along the path. My work is to help you to identify what you want and then help you to achieve your desired goal.

I have years of experience as a systemic family therapist and as a counsellor, though more recently I have focused on relationship work.
I keep up to date with continuing professional development and welcome opportunities to embrace new ideas. I am an active member of a regional Counsellors Book Group and enjoy the creativity of joint discussion.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Without setting myself up as an an expert in particular areas many of the above fields are highly relevant when exploring relationship problems. I have a broad experience which does embrace issues such as sexual problems : retirement; infertility; death; problems with in-laws; trauma; etc..

I charge £50 per session for the assessment and all subsequent sessions on line. There is an additional charge for room hire when the appointment is face to face, usually £15.

Online my last appointment is at 8pm on both Mondays and Tuesdays.
Face to face my last appointment is 4pm on a Monday and 7 pm on a Tuesday.
Further information
I am registered with the Tower Clinic in Tinshill, Leeds and work there with my face to face clients.
I also work from home on Zoom.
I aim to make all parties feel understood and listened to. This process is not about attributing blame or making judgements, it's about understanding what your goals are and helping you get there.
It's not about keeping people together if what they want is help in separating. It may be that people in a relationship have different agendas and that can be explored.
