About me

I have gained a rich and varied experience helping adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds through my ten years of experience working as a social worker in the NHS and training in Cape Town, South Africa. I have specialised and completed a Masters in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths, University of London working with adolescents and adults.

My practice offers a kind, caring and safe environment where you can speak openly and honestly to help get to the root of the problems that you may be struggling with.

My goal is to help you gain insight and awareness about yourself, your relationships with others and overall to help you cultivate a healthy sense of purpose, wellbeing and quality of life.

An important part of my development as a psychotherapist has been my experience in clinical placements with St Mungo’s and the Single Homeless Project, where I continue to work with individuals, mainly adults, who struggle with mental health issues, substance misuse and homelessness.

Training, qualifications & experience

Masters (MA) with merit in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Goldsmiths, University of London

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

First, we would start with a free telephone consultation to understand the reasons you are seeking therapy. We would then begin with an initial four sessions to allow me to gather contact details, personal history and over the period to assess whether we are a good fit to work together. We will then either set a specific period for the therapeutic process, or we will (more usually) leave it open-ended. During the period of therapy, we will have regular review sessions on an approximately six-monthly basis.

I work with the condition that you will pay the full fee for any session that is missed or cancelled less than 48 hours in advance. Pre-payment is required before every session. We will agree on an appropriate way for you to pay me at the end of the first session.
