About me
Hi, I am Farida,
I am an integrative and systemic family psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and EMDR trauma therapist.
Balance and simplicity are core qualities I apply to my life and work, as I believe they bring awareness and groundedness in the daily choices we make.
Everything has a cycle – a beginning, a life, and an end – and the most valuable element of this cycle is our conscious awareness of the here and now and how we choose to live each step of the way.
I have a great interest in human relationships, their dynamics, and interconnectedness. When we are born, our first interaction is a relationship to another; our families become the first nucleus within which we create those very first impressions that will shape our future interactions with individuals and society. It is by learning to relate with one another, I believe, that we may nurture and polish those inner qualities we all have the potential to reveal and gain greater clarity on the purpose of our lives.
In the course of my life I have learnt that when we have negative and unhealthy experiences, especially at a very young age, we develop coping strategies and core beliefs – whether triggered by distress, neglect or trauma – that become core wounds and can compromise our self-esteem and the image one has of themselves, as well as diminish our expectations of life relationships and the way we create meaning in our lives.
By learning to stably create and maintain a relationship with our inner child, and parent our distress, we can find greater clarity, peace, and lightness, affirm our self-acceptance, and anchor our emotional security, to better nurture our life relationships’ needs and make choices in our lives which are more balanced and fair.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP-accredited integrative psychotherapist and a UKCP-registered systemic family therapist with over a decade of clinical experience working across NHS mental health services and private practice. My work has included supporting adults, children, young people, couples, and families experiencing a wide range of psychological and relational difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and complex family dynamics.
I hold two Master’s degrees in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent's University London and in Systemic and Family Psychotherapy from the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. I also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling for Depression at the Metanoia Institute, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Clinical Supervision at The Grove, which allows me to offer supervision to both trainees and qualified therapists.
In addition to my core training, I am a qualified EMDR therapist, a trauma-focused therapy recognised internationally for its effectiveness in treating trauma and distressing life experiences. I have also completed advanced professional training in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) for working with families, as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed practice.
Alongside my private practice, I work within NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) as a Systemic and Family Psychotherapist, providing specialist assessment, therapy, and consultation for young people and families experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. Earlier in my career, I worked in adult psychological services (IAPT) where I provided therapy, supervised clinicians, and led teams of therapists.
I offer therapy in English and Italian.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
