About me
CBT & Integrative Therapist - Individual/Couple/Group/EAP
Urdu-Speaking -Trauma-Informed -Actually Gets It
Let's be honest- therapy can feel awkward. You're sitting with a stranger wondering if they'll understand why you can't say no to your mum's fifth dinner invitation this week, or why you're successful on paper but feel like you're drowning inside.
I get it. I work at the intersection of East and West, which is a fancy way of saying I understand what it's like when your therapist's textbook doesn't mention your family WhatsApp group dynamics.
I work with:
Immigration trauma and that specific loneliness of being between two worlds
The exhausting trifecta: depression, anxiety, OCD
Shame that sits in your chest like a stone (and the people-pleasing that comes with it)
Phobias and panic that make you avoid living your actual life
South Asian family dynamics that would make a great drama serial (but are making you miserable)
For couples: If you're arguing about whose mother is more involved in your marriage, whether to have a "small" wedding (translation: 400 people minimum), or why one of you says "I'm fine" when you're clearly not fine—I can help. I specialise in helping couples navigate love when it comes with commentary from three aunties, two siblings, and a group chat that never sleeps.
How I work:
I blend CBT with other approaches because you're not a one-size-fits-all human. Think: practical tools that actually work + understanding the deeper stuff + cultural sensitivity that doesn't need explaining.
Fluent in Urdu. Familiar with intergenerational guilt, izzat politics, and why "log kya kahenge" still lives rent-free in your head.
Whether you're untangling enmeshment, building boundaries, or just trying to feel like yourself again—I'm here for it.
Training, qualifications & experience
My Training & Experience
I’m a bilingual CBT Integrative Therapist and Couple Counsellor based in Glasgow, fluent in Urdu and deeply committed to culturally sensitive care. I hold a professional certificate in Couple/Relationship Therapy accredited by CORST at Level 5, and I’ve completed a SCOTACS Diploma in Counselling & Groupwork. I’m also a registered member of BACP and working toward full accreditation.
My experience spans individual, couple, and group therapy, with a focus on anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, OCD, phobias, people-pleasing, and boundary-setting. I’ve worked in both private practice and community organisations - including The Talking Rooms and East Renfrewshire Carers Centre - delivering high-intensity CBT and integrative interventions tailored to each client’s needs.
I also bring leadership experience from my time at Amina Muslim Women’s Resource Centre, where I developed trauma-informed helpline services and trained staff in cultural competency. My approach blends evidence-based techniques with Eastern therapeutic values, creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for healing and growth.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
