About me
Hello, my name is Emily. I'm an integrative counsellor, offering a space where you can feel compassionately accepted and heard. My approach is integrative, shaped by your individual needs, and grounded in empathy, warmth, and non-judgemental, genuine acceptance.
Based in South Bristol, I work one-to-one with adults in a collaborative, down-to-earth way. We can explore your past, unpick your feelings in the present or create goals for the future - working together to discover what growth means for you.
Therapy with me tends to be thoughtful, gentle, sometimes a little challenging, but always collaborative. An honest, safe, reflective space where you can start to make sense of your story and grow into a version of yourself that feels more at peace.
Every person is different, so my approach is fluid. Traditional talking therapy in a calm, private space can be helpful. For others, walking and talking or incorporating somatic (body-based) techniques can help work through emotions that may be stored in the body.
Looking for the right counsellor can feel overwhelming and time consuming, as I know from my own experiences! Hopefully you will find this information helpful in determining whether I would be a good fit for you. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with me. For that reason, I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation. This session helps me to get a sense of what you hope for from therapy, as well as giving you opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of me, and if I am someone you would like to work with.
Training, qualifications & experience
My Clinical Experience
I have experience supporting people who have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, issues of self-worth and identity, and other forms of emotional distress, within a mental health organisation (Newport Mind). I also spent four years as a volunteer with Bristol MindLine; a confidential mental health helpline.
I've worked within a university, supporting students experiencing varying levels of emotional distress. This organisation offers short term counselling, therefore, I have valuable experience working within short term therapeutic model, this might be important to you if you are concerned over the cost / length of therapy. This would be something I would be happy to discuss.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I have worked within a university in student support roles. This means I have experience of working closely with people who have experienced overwhelm, life changes, loneliness, or a changing life circumstances and have a good understanding of the challenges around university life.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
