About me
Ed Fitzpatrick MBACP, MA, BSc (Hons), PG Cert (Health Education)
How I can help you
Life can be tough at times and our problems and anxieties can leave us feeling confused, stuck, and submerged in negative emotions. It can feel uncomfortable for us to discuss our concerns with family and friends. I can offer a safe space for you to explore your worries and help you discover potential strategies to help you feel more at ease.
Working together in an atmosphere of mutual trust and non-judgement I will support your journey by listening attentively and sensitively to enable you to gain greater self-awareness about what is preventing you from feeling better about yourself and investigate changes you may wish to make in your life. I draw upon techniques and theory from both CBT and person-centred therapies to ensure your counselling experience is personalised to your specific needs.
I offer face-to-face counselling in a pleasant, confidential environment but can also provide remote support via Zoom or by telephone if this is more suited to your needs and circumstances.
My background and experience in Counselling
I currently work for a charity providing counselling to a diverse client base to help people get back on track with their lives. I have experience in supporting individuals with diverse issues such as bereavement, addiction, anxiety and depression. I am interested in the relationship between physical and mental well-being and will be able to provide you with informed professional support on issues regarding sleep hygiene, nutrition, and exercise that focus on the welfare of the whole person.
During my working life, I have formally mentored and coached many fellow professionals helping them acquire a healthy balance between the conflicting demands of their professional and personal lives. As an experienced education professional, I am well-versed in providing emotional and mental health support to young people and their families.
What is the next step?
It can be daunting to reach out and ask for help, but sharing these thoughts with a friendly, warm, caring professional is the first step to reducing negative feelings and helping you make positive changes to your life. To help find out whether I am the right therapist for you I offer a free thirty-minute telephone consultation so you can establish whether you would feel comfortable working with me.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
