About me

Hi, thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Debbie. I'm a trauma-informed, person-centred counsellor with lived neurodivergent experience, passionate about working with adults in the neurodivergent community.

I understand that seeking counselling can be a vulnerable and courageous step. Whether facing trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or simply seeking a better understanding of yourself and your experiences, I am here to help.

Working together, we can create a safe space where you, as the expert in your own experiences, are free to be who you are unapologetically. I will support you as you tell your story, helping you to make sense of it and leaving you with a clearer view of your next chapter.

I strive to make my practice accessible to everyone, creating a safe, accommodating space that promotes open communication and mutual respect. So, I provide tailored support to make sure our sessions are comfortable, meaningful, beneficial, and, most importantly, meet your needs.

If you're ready to begin a journey of self-exploration, please reach out and schedule an initial free telephone consultation.

I look forward to working with you and accompanying you on your unique path towards personal growth and emotional well-being. Together, we can navigate the challenges and celebrate the strengths that make you who you are.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over three years of experience supporting neurodivergent adults, teens and families in crisis. Besides a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, I hold a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism and additional certification in Trauma-Informed Therapy and Anger Management. I also have a degree in Education and Special Educational Needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I understand that counselling can be costly. One of my desires is to make therapy available to all people. Therefore, I offer concessions to those who are single parents, unemployed or on low incomes. Please reach out with any questions; I'm happy to work with you to keep therapy affordable.

Further information

I offer therapy sessions in person, in the comfort of my home or online via video. I'm available Monday - Thursday daytime and evenings.

I work with many different clients, and particularly enjoy working with clients who have previously struggled to engage with counselling. Our first session is a chance for you to make sure you feel comfortable working with me and check if you feel I have the skills and expertise to support you. It will include introductions, contracting and a chance to explore the problems you're experiencing.

I am a person-centred, trauma-informed counsellor. From our first session, we will create together a confidential, safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a non-judgemental, accepting environment. Working in this way, you can begin to make sense of your experiences and come to understand them better.
