About me

Hi and welcome to my profile.

My name is Corinne, I'm a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist passionate about helping people who suffer from anxiety and depression.

I'm based near Dorchester in Melcombe Bingham.  I work both face to face and online with Zoom.

For your counselling sessions to be helpful, I believe that it is essential for you to feel at ease with me. For that reason, I systematically offer a free 30 minutes consultation on Zoom. This gives us an opportunity to meet and see how we get on. During this first consultation, we may start to explore what you would like to resolve and how we could do that.

I trained as a psychologist 25 years ago to start making sense of my own life.  At the same time, I started to have a regular practice of mindfulness and self-compassion. This, along with some self-development has given me the tools to heal my own anxieties and limiting beliefs. My life has become happier and more fulfilling as a result.

My approach to therapy is integrative which means that I use tools from different schools of psychotherapy to be able to meet your needs.

For instance, I use a Person-Centred approach. I listen carefully to what you say and how you feel. During that process, I follow your lead to work co-creatively with you. As a result, you may see more clearly what’s going on and be able to tap in your own resources to find a way forward to resolve your issues.

I work with CBT to help you challenge your negative thoughts and see more clearly how they contribute to make you feel anxious or depressed. CBT uses powerful tools to help you think more creatively and positively.

I also use a Psychodynamic approach to support you to explore your past and discover how it is influencing your present. This can help you make meaningful connections and identify how you came to form the unhelpful beliefs that are holding you back.

Mindfulness  and self-compassion will help you develop a better awareness of your triggers in the present and a capacity to deal with them more rationally.

Relaxation is great to deal with anxiety and stress. It can provide a soothing effect to the nervous system when it is triggered by anxious feelings.

Hypnotherapy uses techniques which help achieve a deep state of relaxation or trance. In that state, it is possible to work directly with the subconscious to shift deep-seated negative self-beliefs which are at the source of defeating behaviours.
