About me

Hi and welcome to my profile.

My name is Corinne Lukomski. I'm a clinical psychologist  and psychotherapist passionate about helping people create changes in their life to bring about more happiness within themselves and their relationships.

I live near Dorchester in Melcombe Bingham.  I work both face to face and online with Zoom.

For your counselling sessions to be helpful, I believe that it is essential that you feel at ease with me. For that reason, I systematically offer a free 30 minutes consultation on Zoom. This gives us an opportunity to meet and see how we get on. During this first consultation, we may start to explore what you would like to resolve and how we could do that.

I trained as a psychologist 25 years ago to start making sense of my own life.  At the same time, I started to have a regular practice of mindfulness and self-compassion. This, along with some self-development has given me the tools to heal my own anxieties and limiting beliefs. My life has become happier and more fulfilling as a result. I'm a mum of 4 adolescents/young people. I love walking, cooking and anything creative.

I work with individuals and relationship issues.

My approach to therapy is integrative which means that to help you, I use tools from different schools of psychotherapy.

When you are stuck in patterns that constantly bring about the same conflicts in your relationship and you are enable to find a way out by yourself, it is a sign that it is time to get some help. I work with the RLT model. Relational life therapy compassionately confronts and show people what they are doing wrong, goes deep into uncovering where their negative behaviors came from, and teach people how to behave differently.

I always use a Person-Centred approach. I listen very carefully to what you say and how you feel. As a result, you may see more clearly what’s going on for you and what you need and want to move forward and resolve your issues. During that process, I follow your lead and always work at your own pace.

CBT ( cognitive behavioural therapy) can help you discover how your automatic negative thoughts contribute to making you feel anxious or depressed.  Once you have a better understanding of your thinking patterns, you can utilise CBT tools to  develop a more creative and positive way of thinking.

A Psychodynamic approach is useful to explore the past and discover how it is influencing your present. This can help you make meaningful connections and identify how you came to form certain beliefs which, although were useful in the past to preserve your wholeness and integrity are holding you back today. You then can realise that the past doesn't equal the present or the future.

Mindfulness helps to become more aware of our triggers and able to develop a capacity to deal with them more rationally. Overtime and with regular practice it becomes easier to recognise our usual/automatic patterns of thinking/ reacting and to create a distance so we no longer react automatically.

Developing self-compassion is important to move away from the usual harshness of self-talk to more self-esteem and warmth towards ourselves. We would never talk to a friend who is suffering, with harshness, yet we do that to ourselves all the time. Developing self-compassion give us permission to attend to our own vulnerability with loving kindness. In time it support our growth towards feeling that we are good enough.

Relaxation is great to deal with anxiety and stress. It provides a soothing effect to the nervous system when it is triggered by anxious feelings. A regular practice of relaxation can significantly improve your mood, lessen the episodes of anxiety and depression, and improve your physical well being.

Hypnotherapy uses techniques which help achieve a deep state of relaxation or trance. In that state, it is possible to work directly with the subconscious with positive/constructive suggestions to shift deep-seated negative self-beliefs which are at the source of defeating behaviours.
