About me

Are you struggling with anxiety or feeling sad and overwhelmed all the time?

Maybe you're worried about how this is affecting your relationships, causing you more anxiety. Perhaps you're finding it difficult to communicate your feelings to loved ones.

Are you grieving for the loss of a loved one? Perhaps you are feeling scared, confused and lost and alone. Do you feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders? Are you're carrying this huge weight around with you every day, and it's dragging you down.

Who am I, and how do I work

I'm Claire, a person-centred and attachment based counsellor, offering face-to-face counselling at the lovely Wellness rooms in Tur Langton Village in Leicestershire and from The Rutland Therapy Centre in Oakham. I also offer online counselling if you prefer.

I support adults, addressing a range of issues such as grief, loss and attachment wounds, anxiety, and depression.

How Counselling can help you

Counselling can help you explore your feelings of anxiety or depression, helping you to become stronger and calmer. It will help you to become more positive about yourself so that you can build healthy boundaries in your relationships. Counselling can help you learn how to communicate your needs so that you feel heard and valued for who you are.

Bereavement Counselling

I understand how hard it can be to openly share your feelings of anxiety or talk about a bereavement with family or friends. My personal experience of loss has helped me enormously when working with the bereavement charity Cruse. Being able to share with someone who is outside of your family or group of friends can bring huge relief, knowing that you can talk freely and are not a burden.

Benefits of Counselling

Attachment based therapy can  can help you understand your relationship patterns and learn new ways to communicate your needs so that you can build stronger relationships. It can help you feel more in control of your anxiety so that you feel lighter and start finding new ways to cope with life. Talking to a counsellor can help you explore your feelings more deeply without the fear of upsetting others.

If you prefer to have online sessions, I offer daytime or evening appointments where you can have a session without leaving the comfort of your own home. Through our relationship, you will have the opportunity to talk openly, and I will listen with empathy, helping you to make more sense of your feelings of sadness, loss, depression or anxiety.

What is Person-centred Therapy?

I listen with warmth and compassion, offering you a space to begin exploring your feelings without judgment. When emotions are not fully processed or understood, they can remain in the body, causing stress and tension. This can impact your mental health and well-being.

I will gently encourage you to explore your deeper feelings at your own pace with a focus on the connection between the mind and the body. Bringing more awareness to the feelings and sensations within the body can help you gain more understanding about the root of any anxiety or depression.

What I offer

Counselling is a collaborative process, so we will work together to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself. This will help you make sense of difficult emotions and learn to trust yourself again.

I offer a space, either face-to-face or online, where you will feel seen and heard.  Through our connection, you will learn how you relate to others now and in the past. This awareness can help you make sense of what is happening within your relationships and your attachments with others.

I believe you are the expert on your own life and have the strength and resilience to overcome challenges, and I will walk alongside you, supporting you on that journey. As a Reiki Practitioner also, I can support you with learning about your energy, so that you can become a stronger, calmer and happier you.

I understand that counselling can feel daunting, so I am here to support you with the process by offering a free 20-minute video or telephone call.

Please feel free to contact me to ask questions to help you determine if I am the right counsellor for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My experience includes working with adults and young people coping with grief and loss, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family conflict, and trauma.

My training began when I worked with Cruse as a Bereavement Volunteer in 2016 and continued to support individuals with complex grief for over 5 years. Working closely with people struggling with grief, I feel a natural empathy and a strong desire to help you navigate this difficult transition.

I have experience working with many clients on long and short-term work, in an agency setting and my private practice. I can support clients face-to-face, online and on the telephone.

I have also worked as a teacher for 29 years and fully understand and appreciate anxiety associated with teaching and work-related stress. I have completed various training courses in safeguarding adults and children.

My recent studies have included completing training in Integrating Attachment-based Psychotherapy into Clinical Practice. I work with attachment and loss and integrate this alongside a person-centred approach to help you understand your connections and relationship patterns. This can involve exploring childhood and past experiences, which can help you to understand yourself better.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
