About me

I am a CBT Therapist specialising in ADHD/ASD for both teenagers and adults. I offer a safe, confidential, non judgmental space. Working from a strength based approach we can work together to identify practical ways to improve your current situation.

After all that the world has been through, it is understandable that the uncertainty we are all facing has had an impact on our mental health. The gradual introduction to a 'normal life' has only strengthened some people's anxiety.  This has been a difficult time for everyone, particularly those with ADHD/ASD.

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the fact that our thoughts and feelings have an impact on our behaviour. Negative thoughts can trap us in a vicious cycle and we end up going round in circles, repeating the same patterns. CBT can help us deal with overwhelming issues by breaking them down into smaller, more manageable pieces. We can work together to identify practical solutions to improve how you think and feel.

CBT can be very effective in the treatment of anxiety and depression and can be particularly effective for those living with ADHD/ASD.

What to expect:

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is of paramount importance which is why I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to help you decide if you want to work with me. I will treat you with respect, without judgment to build and maintain a positive working relationship.

Each session is 50 mins and the initial session will assess your situation and formulate how to progress.  Further sessions will involve us  working collaboratively to determine if your thoughts and behaviours  are unhelpful,  and develop strategies to help change them.

I will ask you to practice these strategies in between sessions and tell me how you got on. Eventually you will be able to employ these skills in your daily life and be able to manage your issues and prevent them having a negative impact.

I use robust IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) measures to track your well - being and progress towards identified goals, which I will share with you in sessions. You also have the opportunity to give feedback at the end of each session to enable me to tailor the sessions to your individual needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
