About me

Hi, I’m Charlotte, a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or not good enough, or struggling with food and your body?
If you want things to feel easier, calmer and more in control, I’d love to hear from you.

You might be:

  • Struggling with anxiety that feels constant or exhausting
  • Overthinking everything or finding it hard to switch off
  • Lacking confidence or feeling “not good enough”
  • Finding your relationship with food or your body difficult
  • Feeling low, lost, or unsure of who you are anymore

Or perhaps you’re a parent who is worried about your child, noticing changes in their behaviour, emotions, or eating, and not knowing how best to support them.

If you want to feel calmer, more in control, and more like yourself again, you’re in the right place.

How I can support you
I work with adults, children and young people, offering a warm, supportive space where you can begin to make sense of what’s going on for you.

Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels safe. Alongside being heard and understood, you’ll also gain practical tools to help you cope differently day-to-day.

Clients often come to me wanting relief, and leave with:

  • Greater self-esteem and self-trust
  • A clearer understanding of themselves
  • Healthier ways of managing thoughts and emotions
  • More confidence in their relationships and decisions

My approach

I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable, accepted and genuinely connected to the person you’re working with.

I’m a warm, down-to-earth and honest counsellor. I won’t sit silently or feel distant, I aim to meet you as a real person, creating a space where you can bring all parts of yourself without fear of judgement.

How I work with children

I support children and young people using a blend of talking and play therapy, helping them express what they may not yet have the words for.

As a mum of two, I understand how important it is to feel your child is safe and supported. I begin with a parent consultation before starting therapy.

Eating Disorder Family Support

If someone you love is struggling with an eating disorder, it can feel overwhelming and confusing.

I offer practical, compassionate guidance to help you:

  • Understand what’s happening
  • Know what to say (and what not to say)
  • Reduce conflict around food
  • Support your loved one with more confidence

Information regarding sessions:

I am currently offering face to face and online sessions from my office in Copmanthorpe, with availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

I am very pleased to offer a tranquil counselling room in the form of a converted caravan.

This set up means I'm able to offer a home from home experience to my clients, with hot drinks, comfy seating and the ability to utilise the outdoors should you find that helpful. There is ample free parking on site as well as good bus routes that stop just at the top of the road.

To help you decide if we’re a good fit, I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute phone or video call. Please feel free to get in touch, I’d be glad to hear from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have completed the following training courses:

  • Level 4 Diploma Therapeutic Counselling
  • Sand Tray Therapy
  • Attachment and Disordered Eating
  • Trauma training
  • Suicide and self-harm
  • Bereavement and loss training
  • Online and telephone counselling training
  • Safeguarding children and adults

I am also currently undergoing Level 5 children and young people counselling with Place2Be, meaning I am now able to work with this younger age group.

My way of working is client lead, this means I will not sit as the expert in our sessions and tell you how to live your life, rather, I aim to understand and empathise with your experiences and empower you to find a way forward to a more fulfilling life. I will walk alongside you on your therapeutic journey, building trust and a safe space from which to explore your feelings.

Depending on what works best for you, I can offer either traditional talking therapy or more creative techniques that can sometimes be helpful to unlock the subconscious feelings that can be difficult to reach. With all clients, I will follow your lead and offer interventions that suit you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
