About me

Hi, I am Charlotte, welcome to my page. I am a registered counsellor based in Hastings Town Centre where I have my own room. I offer in person or online sessions. I work with the following;

  • Anxiety including social and health anxiety
  • Depression including postnatal depression
  • Low self esteem and confidence
  • Stress, family and work issues
  • Relationship issues including; affairs, work and financial stress, division of chores within the home, differences in communication, parenting styles and wishing to end the relationship
  • Relocation
  • Bereavement and grief
  • Autism and ADHD

Individual work

I offer 50 minute sessions in a confidential environment where I aim to build a working relationship where you feel heard and able to explore your reasons for seeking counselling.

Talking about our experiences can help us gain a deeper understanding of them. This can increase awareness about our situation, help to establish what are our needs and what changes we can make. My approach is to offer an empathetic and non - judgemental space. Sessions are paced and tailored toward each individual.

I am trained in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy where the focus of the work includes making sense of our; experiences, patterns of behaviour, feelings and thoughts. Exploring these and understanding them further can help to increase self awareness and improve our emotional health and wellbeing.

Couples

I offer 60 minute sessions for couples who are seeking help with their relationship. Sessions can help each individual to identify issues within the relationship, explore how they feel about it and clarify goals to work toward.

About my practice

As part of my work with clients my practice is supervised by a UKCP registered supervisor and psychotherapist. I am insured and registered with the Information Commissioners Office. I am a registered member of the BACP, accredited with the NCPS and a member of UKATA. I adhere to their ethical guidelines.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have had varied counselling experience working for Anxiety UK as an Approved Therapist and as a registered counsellor in private practice. I have previous volunteer counselling experience in East Sussex NHS Perinatal Mental Health Service. I am passionate about my work and attend regular professional development courses. I have an interest in ADHD and how this influences an individual. I am currently working toward UKCP registration as an integrative psychotherapist. My previous working life was as a Registered General Nurse with the NHS.

BACP

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
