About me

Hi, I'm Charlie. I'm a BACP-registered integrative counsellor with additional training in Neurodivergence, Walk and Talk therapy, and the Rewind Technique for trauma.

My approach is integrative, which means I don't follow one fixed model. Instead, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, such as person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment, and Internal Family Systems thinking, and shape how we work together around you. This means that what you bring to our sessions, and what you're hoping to get from them, is always led by you and our relationship rather than a fixed technique.

Please visit: www.talkwithcharlie.co.uk to find out more about what I can offer.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

People come to counselling for all kinds of reasons. Perhaps something specific has happened, perhaps you're finding certain thoughts, feelings, or experiences hard to manage, or perhaps you feel stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, or not quite yourself. Whatever's brought you here, counselling offers a space to slow down and make sense of things, and to find ways of moving forward that feel right for you.

Alongside online and telephone work, I also offer Walk and Talk therapy in the Mid-Sussex area. We often feel better simply for being outdoors. There's good reason for that - research suggests that time spent in green or blue spaces, like woodland or the coast, can lower stress and help steady our nervous system. Walking, or even sitting alongside each other, outdoors also changes the shape of a conversation. Without sitting face-to-face, there's often less pressure, and many people find it a more natural, easier way to talk through what's going on for them.

I am also trained in the Rewind Technique, a gentle and non-disclosure approach to dealing with trauma. Specifically useful for people with PTSD, OCD, phobias, and anxieties, the Rewind Technique works with the way the brain processes and stores traumatic memory, helping to reduce its emotional intensity so it no longer feels as overwhelming or intrusive.
