About me

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the demands of life? Perhaps there are events in the present or from the past that are holding you back from thriving. Maybe relationships are not working out the way you had hoped, or you notice that there are some patterns in the way you respond to people and events that keep getting in the way. Perhaps your self confidence is low and you find yourself in a storm of self-criticism. It might be that you have you have reached a crossroads and are unsure about which road to take.

I can offer a non-judgmental and empathic space to safely explore the issues and experiences that may be affecting you. We can then work together to gain understanding and find strategies and skills you may be able to use to move forward. This may allow you to meet the challenges of life in a more meaningful and satisfying way for you.

My trauma informed integrative approach includes aspects of humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapies. This allows me to collaborate with you to seek a way of working that meets your needs and your goals. I will first accept and value you as the unique individual you are and acknowledge the way that you see and understand your life at present. We may then explore how your relationships and past experiences have shaped your understanding of yourself and your world. We might also attend to how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours work to respond to your current circumstances and what we can learn from that. This could lead you to experiment with new ways to be in your world, based on compassion and commitment to yourself and what is important to you.

Therapeutic support can be a significant investment for many people. I have substantial experience in working within a short-term model of 6 – 12 sessions supporting adults and young-people. However, there may be times when longer term therapy may be more suitable for you, and I can also offer the space for longer exploration. Your preferences would be discussed in our initial session and our work reviewed regularly in order that you can ensure it is meeting your needs.

I have particular interest and experience in working with bereavement, grief and loss across the life course; building self esteem, confidence and resilience; overcoming anxiety and depression; and supporting young people age 16-25 as they navigate the transitions of early adulthood.

How to begin
I offer an initial trial 15-minute telephone session free of charge and you can email me to arrange a time to talk. We can follow this up by meeting online, by telephone or face-to-face in my therapy room near Caerphilly for an initial consultation. Here we can begin to work out what your initial goals and preferences for working may be.
