About me
Are you looking for change in some area of your life? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the demands on you? Are you experiencing too much low mood and worry, and struggling to find joy and satisfaction? Perhaps events in the present or from the past are holding you back from thriving in your personal or professional life. Maybe relationships are not working out the way you had hoped, or you notice that there are some patterns in the way you respond to people and events that keep getting in the way. Perhaps your self confidence is low or you find yourself in a storm of self-criticism, feeling just not feeling good enough. It might be that you have you have reached a crossroads and are unsure about which road to take.
About Me
I am a qualified counsellor and consultative supervisor, with experience as an NHS Mental Health practitioner. I offer sessions face to face both indoors and in outside in nature, or remotely -online or by telephone. I offer a non-judgmental space to safely explore the issues and experiences that may be affecting you and then work with you to gain understanding and actively find strategies and skills you may be able to use to move forward, allowing you to meet the challenges of life in a more meaningful and satisfying way.
My trauma informed integrative approach draws on humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapies (CBT) and my additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. At the heart of my work is the power of relationship - how we build a relationship in therapy that helps you to understand your relationship to yourself, others and the world around you. As we attend to how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours respond to your past and current circumstances, what we learn may lead you to experiment with new ways to be in your world, based on compassion and commitment to yourself and what is important to you.
I have particular interest and experience in working with life transitions and bereavement, grief and loss across the life course; building self esteem, confidence and resilience; overcoming anxiety and depression.
How to begin
It can be a challenge to take that first step into therapy. I offer an initial 15-minute telephone session free of charge to help you explore how the sessions might help you to create a pathway towards feeling more at ease in your life.
