About me

You can’t change your past, but together we can change the impact it has on you.
* I am currently taking maternity leave and plan to return to work in September 2024.

Hello and welcome.
You’ve taken the first step in acknowledging that you want something in your life to be different. Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed, have suffered a loss, or are experiencing anxious thoughts, depressive episodes, or maybe you’re struggling with relationships.

Whatever has brought you to consider counselling, I’d like to reassure you that we can work together to improving your current situation.
My name is Catherine and I am an accredited member of the BACP and have a decade of clinical experience. I have worked with many people just like you, who may be feeling lost and stuck, wanting to move forwards with their lives but feeling as though they are struggling.

I am here to offer a reflective space to allow you to work through the issues that might be keeping you stuck in old patterns. Through your counselling sessions, you will have the opportunity to gain more insight into yourself, how you relate to others and perhaps most importantly, how to move forwards from the difficult place you might find yourself in right now.
My approach is uniquely tailored to you. I believe that as an individual, you will have needs that will be different to others’ and so we will work collaboratively to decide on a direction for our work together. This may be more of a reflective space, or you may have a clearly defined issue that you would like help with. You can be assured that no matter what our work, I will always offer you compassion, empathy and a safe space to explore those more difficult issues.
Counselling for Children and Young People (10-18)

I am an experienced counsellor for young people and have worked in a number of settings supporting those struggling with anxiety, self-confidence issues, friendship difficulties, self-harm, loss and trauma.
My work with young people tends to be creative and can include elements of play, drawing, using puppets and mindfulness. In addition to this, I believe that psychoeducation is an important part of counselling young people and so I may explain theories, or work in a more directive, solution focused way to help overcome a particular issue.
I have some limited availability for young people within my Private Practice, so please do get in touch via email.
I have developed a network of trusted colleagues over the years and if for any reason I do not have any current availability in my practice, or if you are experiencing an issue that a colleague has particular expertise in, then I will help to identify the best person or service to help you.
Take care,

*If you have made an enquiry and are awaiting a reply from me,  please remember to check your 'other' and 'junk' folders. I aim to reply to emails within 48 hours.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
