About us
I'm Byrd, a pluralistic therapist offering counselling therapy sessions for adults, rooted in radical empathy. My approach is laid back, candid, collaborative and consent driven. I offer a non-judgemental space for you to come exactly as you are and be met with compassion, understanding and care. I bring my full self, so you can bring yours, to a space for open exploration, collaborative processing and healing. To me, therapy is about us working together for you to better understand yourself, and find ways to navigate challenges.
It can be easy to get stuck inside our own heads with our thoughts, feelings and anxiety. Sharing them, finding context and perspective in a supportive environment can help us move towards more connection - with others and ourselves. I believe acceptance is the start of change, so come as you are, and I’ll meet you there.
My practice is neurodivergent and queer friendly, trauma informed and consent and compassion focused. I work pluralistically, meaning I bring all knowledge and experience to find what is most meaningful and useful for you. I often look beyond the present issue to consider if other factors, experiences or patterns may be around for you.
I have experience with, but am not limited to the following;
anxiety, depression, identity issues, relational challenges, grief, childhood trauma, changing patterns of behaviour, gender or sexuality issues, existential, spiritual or religious challenges, neurodivergence, finding meaning, kink and BDSM, understanding and navigating complex emotions and trauma

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
