About me

I believe much of the distress we experience is relational at the core and that hope and healing can begin to be found in a therapeutic relationship. I find that many of my clients are individuals and couples seeking to improve the quality of communication and experience of their close relationships - self, partners, family, friends.

By receiving understanding in our therapeutic relationship, which leads to self-acceptance, the process of change and growth starts to develop within this safe and secure space and then branches out into other areas of life.

My practice is inspired in part by the following authors and thoughts:

'It's the relationship that heals.' (Irvin Yalom)

'The relationship is the therapy.' (Michael Khan)

'The curious paradox is that when I accept myself as I am, then I change.' (Carl R. Rogers)

I offer sessions in person (held in the caravan on my drive) and remotely, via Zoom video or telephone call.

When contacted (please indicate your preferences for return contact, via phone call, text or email), I will offer you an informal chat to confirm that I am offering what you are looking for and arrange an initial session.  There is no obligation to book further sessions after this first meeting.

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition to my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB Integrative, Person Centred and Psychodynamic), I hold an Advanced Post Diploma Certificate for Person Centred Couples counselling work.

I have worked with a local counselling agency, as a counsellor and tutor, and a national Employee Assistance Provider.  I currently offer private sessions to individual adults and couples with a wide range of experience and backgrounds, many of whom possess a degree of neurodiversity.

I am currently training in Relational Supervision and am willing to offer supervision at reduced rates during the duration of the course (July 2024)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
