About me

Are you finding your marriage or relationship to be really hard? Perhaps you've been arguing a lot or there's a level of tension in your relationship that doesn't go away. Maybe you just feel like roommates and you wish for something more meaningful!

If this is you, I'm so sorry your relationship has become something you didn't expect or want when you first got together. Rarely do we understand just how hard relationships are until we are in them!

Over the years I've worked with many individuals and couples as they struggle through trying to make their relationship something that they are content and even excited about! I help my clients understand what is getting in the way, or causing the negative feelings and actions that create more problems. During the course of therapy, they become more aware of themselves and can better understand and communicate their needs, and they discover how to better listen to and meet the needs of their partner.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist from California. I've had a private practice in California for 15 years until recently relocating to the UK.

I am certified as an EMDR therapist through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
