About me
I’m Angela, a South African born therapist based in East Lothian, Scotland, trained in Transactional Analysis (TA). I work with individuals and couples, and in my couples work I draw on the Bader-Pearson Developmental Model, which looks at how relationships grow and change over time. I offer sessions both in person and online, so wherever you are, there’s usually a way we can work together.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a mum to three boys, an avid golfer, and someone who finds a lot of joy in being outdoors. I spend a good amount of time exploring walks with my partner and our dogs. I think that connection to life beyond the counselling room matters. It keeps me grounded, and I hope it makes me a more human counsellor.
I’ve also lived through some of the things that bring people to counselling. Navigating divorce, rebuilding life afterwards, and blending a family with a new partner have all shaped who I am, both personally and professionally. I don’t think you need to have walked the same road as your clients, but lived experience does bring something real to the work.
What I love most about counselling is those lightbulb moments, when someone discovers something new about themselves, or when a couple starts to find their way back to each other. I also love being able to sit with clients in the uncomfortable spaces and help them see that they can get through them. That they’re more resilient than they realised, and that with the right support, they can work through almost anything.
If any of that resonates, I’d love to hear from you
